A framework for NHS Scotland organisations and employees
Carers care; they care for someone who may or may not be related to them and who would otherwise not be able to manage on their own and that person can be of any age. The carer may find him or herself in this role without any warning and combining this 'new' role with paid employment can seem an impossible task. Finding good clear information on what help is available can be difficult, as there is a lot to think about for carers and their manager.
We care for our carers. We care that they are treated with dignity and respect and that their rights are not in any way reduced because of their caring responsibilities. We have produced this new part of our website that contains, via the links attached below, revised guidance for carers and managers within NHSScotland. The information includes three presentations you can view, contact details for organisations that can provide help and support and case studies.
Please tell us what you think by leaving your feedback on this part of the site. The information is correct at the time of writing, March 2012, and we will endeavour to monitor the site and keep content up to date. If you think others may gain from your story, and you are willing to share your experience, we would like to hear from you. You can contact us at carersmailbox@scotland.gsi.gov.uk.
